Southampton are open to offers for two goalkeepers, Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy, according to Sky Sports News.

Angus Gunn became Ralph Hasenhuttl’s preferred choice in goal towards the end of last season. Forster only played one Premier League game last season in the penultimate game against West Ham.

The former England shot-stopper is joint-second top earner at St Mary’s with website Spotrac claiming he is paid £70,000 per week. That would appear too high for Southampton’s third-choice keeper.

The 29-year-old McCarthy earns slightly less at £50,000 per week, according to Spotrac, but only signed a new deal last summer. SSN’s report claims the Saints boss wants to trim his squad and reduce the wage bill to bring in other players.

They also suggest McCarthy is high on the wanted list at Aston Villa, who are looking for a new goalkeeper following their promotion. He has also been linked with a move to Liverpool.

At 31, Forster is valued at £7.2million by Transfermarkt, whilst McCarthy is valued at £4.5million by the website.

Charlie Austin and Sam Gallagher could be departing St Mary’s soon with multiple clubs wanting the strikers, according to SSN. However, The Telegraph suggest up to five senior first-team players could be leaving this summer.
