Speaking to the OS after the Rochdale game, our left back was realistic enough in his assessment of how we are standing at the moment.

‘It’s not all doom and gloom and the lads realise that we’re in an ok-ish position. Of course we would like to be at the top of the table and looking down, but we’re not. We’ve got something that we want to achieve this year, and we want to get that right.’

Dan added that it has been a frustrating start to the season because we have made plenty of chances but they just aren’t going in.

He admits that we have not had the start that we would have liked and says that it is down to the players to put that right as soon as is possible.

Talking about Dean Wilkins he was very enthusiastic when saying that he thought he was brilliant. Dean is very enthusiastic and gets you going he told the OS.

With no midweek game this week the team has a chance to work at Staplewood on various aspects of the game. Dan thinks that having a whole week may help to put some things right that weren’t against Rochdale and Swindon.

Travelling to Swindon as we are this week gives us a chance for revenge and Dan is keen to help the midweek defeat and get it out of the system.

The last three games against the Robins have all met with us losing and now he feels it is time for us to show we are better than the stats currently show.

Reading between the lines it appears to me that the team still has confidence in their ability. Talk is cheap I know but a good win on Saturday would certainly help us move in the right direction.
