With the rumour mill linking Southampton striker Manolo Gabbiadini with a return to Italy, and Napoli in particular, literally, every window since the player arrived at St Mary’s Stadium, it’s been reported this week that he is now officially up for sale and giants AC Milan are very interested in procuring his services.

The report is a typical Sky Sports ‘understands’ job, so complete accuracy given the usual workings of the rumour mill are down to each reader to decide.

Given the fact the rumours have rumbled on for so long, I’m inclined to believe there is something in it, especially in light of his lack of involvement for new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl as it doesn’t look like he figures in his plans.

On one level it’ll be a shame as we’ve seen what he’s capable of when played to his strengths, but one goal in 15 games this season along with his previous barren spells also tell a story.

As well as AC Milan, Sky also link Fiorentina and Bologna with an interest in him.
