It has been a tough time for Che Adams since he arrived at Southampton.

The 23-year-old put pen to paper on a long term deal in the summer, for a reported fee of £15m, as per BBC Sport.

Despite being his first season in the Premier League, which can be forgiven as it takes a while to get up to speed, Adams has not even got out of the starting blocks, with all due respect.

The former Birmingham City attacker has failed to score from eight starts and 14 appearances from the bench and has been outshone by his teammate Danny Ings in the process, having found the net 15 times.

His lack of attacking prowess has been a grave concern. The St Mary’s faithful have been incredibly supportive of Adams and have understood how tough life can be at England’s highest level.

Does Che Adams need a loan move to regain his confidence?

Yes, he has to return to scoring ways

No, he has shown he is on the right path at Southampton

We all saw what Adams is capable of after some impressive performances with the Blues last season. With 22 goals from 46 appearances, he has the talent and the ability to shine in the Premier League. However, there is such a thing as too early and too soon.

One name comes to mind in previous seasons, and some of you may have read my mind. That’s right, Guido Carillo.

The Argentinian’s £19m move from Monaco in January 2018 and having failed to score in the 10 outings he made for us makes him one of the most expensive flops in our history.

There is a danger that Adams could go down a similar route if lessons from the past aren’t acknowledged.

A way around this is to send Adams on loan to rejuvenate his confidence, and to get him back in the blistering form that he had at St Andrew’s. Maybe sending him back to Birmingham would be a sensible move from Ralph Hasenhuttl.
