Southampton attracted young centre-half Pascal Kpohomouh to the club over the summer and enticed him into making the switch from Manchester City.

The Ghanian 17-year-old has now celebrated his birthday by signing his first professional contract and he put pen to paper on a deal until the summer of 2021 yesterday.

Having arrived at Staplewood over the summer, he has slotted in nicely to our Under 18 set up and the expectation is he’ll soon get to test himself in our Under 23 squad given the length of contract and Radhi Jaidi will run his eye over him as he continues to develop and improve as a player.

We had apparently been tracking him for a while so I guess the professional deal was always on the cards when he made the move.

As ever, those who watch the Academy and Under sides will have formed an early impression about him, the rest of us will simply have to see if he becomes a name we recognise in the coming years.

Best of luck!
