It’s been reported that Southampton are interested in signing full-back Kevin Malcuit.
The link seems to originate from Tuttomercatoweb but it’s fair to say in my experience they are very much the Sun and Daily Mail when it comes to actual plausibility in transfer links, but the natural fear on this piece of speculation is it means a departure for someone.
It’s suggested that Southampton have already spoken to Lille over a move for the defender, and Napoli are linked. 27-year-old Malcuit joined Lille from St Etienne for an undisclosed fee back in the summer of 2017 but at least in my usual go-to places for statistics on the interweb, having come through Monaco’s youth system he barely has 70 appearances to his name – so I’m assuming that’s wrong at his age for a start, and to be fair his Wikipedia page implies just that listing far more matches under his belt.
He’s apparently a right back by trade so is this simply cover for Cedric, or are Southampton expecting interest before the transfer deadline slams shut? If there’s any truth to this, hopefully, it’s the former rather than the latter.
I’m presuming those who follow foreign football more closely rate him given a few responses.
Wow, that’s really surprising. Thought he’d of moved to a bigger club this summer, definitely good enough to.

This guy doesnt fit the profile of someone #saintsfc would sign. It would be a strange one if we signed him

Seems strange as he’s old and we have a surplus in the position
