Andrew Surman is reluctant to leave Southampton this summer, but accepts that it isn’t up to him.

Southampton are struggling financially, and playing in League One next season may result in the Saints parting with their prized assets.

Andrew Surman, along with Adam Lallana have been eyed up by Premiership sides and may well depart St. Mary’s this summer.

But Surman, 22, is optimistic that the Saints can find a buyer, so that he can remain on the south coast to help Saints with the promotion push.

‘I love being at Southampton and I’ve been here since I was 10 years old, so obviously I don’t want to leave,’ Surman told the club’s official website.

‘It’s a difficult situation which will only become clearer when a takeover is in place, so we’ll be able to move forward then.’
