Before departing the 26-year-old striker left a message of gratitude to Sanfreece and their fans.
‘For two and a half years I’ve played hard for Sanfrecce Hiroshima and tried to live up to the expectations of their supporters,’ Lee said in a statement released through Sanfrecce’s website on Friday.
‘I owe my growth as a player to this team. I hope you’ll continue to watch over me and thank you for your support.’
With the signing of Lee it is hoped that the Saints can again make a step forward in their push for promotion to the Premiership. Lee could be available for the home game against Leicester City next week-end as Southampton manager Nigel Adkins says that he(Lee) is a fit boy.
