Matt Targett has joined Fulham on a loan move and both Mauricio Pellegrino and Michael Obafemi have reflected on his Southampton debut last weekend.

Beginning with Targett as a catch up, he headed out to Craven Cottage on a loan spell that will run until the end of the current campaign.

The 22 year old left back should now hopefully get some good game time under Slavisa Jokanovic as he has only made two appearances for us this season.

Fulham are seventh in the Championship table, one point shy of the play off spots.

Having made his senior debut in the draw against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend as a substitute, Obafemi becomes the first player born after 2000 to feature in the Premier League for Southampton.

Speaking to saintsfc with the 17 year old getting eight senior minutes under his belt, he explained post game.

‘I am very thankful to all the staff and club for helping to make this happen. I came in yesterday thinking that I would be playing for the U18s. The manager stopped me and said that I would be training instead and would maybe be in the first-team squad; it was confirmed later on in the afternoon!’

Adding.

‘I can`t stop here, this is just the start of what I hope is my career. When the chance came, I should have used my left foot but I hope I will get another opportunity to prove I can make it at this level. I was nervous but the welcome from the supporters was brilliant and the senior guys told me to just relax and prove myself. I want to move on from here and keep working hard.’

Pellegrino was delighted with his bow and he’s expecting big things to come from his in the future as he continues to develop.

‘He`s a really fast player and his speed is his most important quality. He is also a good finisher, and I observed that their back four was really high and he could have some chances. He was there and he was really close, but it`s still the beginning of his career and he has to grow a lot. To us, we have had a good history with our home-grown players and Michael is one more.’

Hopefully the next one off the production line for our Academy.
