Southampton confirmed that goalkeeper Stuart Taylor had signed a 12 month contract extension yesterday.
The 36 year old stopper arrived at St Mary’s in the early part of last season to provide additional cover in the goalkeeping department and he has now extended his stay through the coming 2017/18 campaign.
A two time Premier League and FA Cup winner will continue to add depth to the goalkeepers union at the club, backing up Fraser Forster and Alex McCarthy and helping to pass on his experience in the process.
Speaking to saintsfc to announce the deal vice chairman of football Les Reed explained.
‘Stuart was a fantastic presence in the squad last season, and the support he offered to his fellow goalkeepers and his teammates as a whole was first-class. We are very pleased that he will again be part of the squad for the coming season.’
Talking himself about the extension, Taylor added.
‘I’m obviously delighted to have signed for another year. It’s a great bunch of lads and a great group, and I’m looking forward to working again with a great goalkeeper coach and a great squad of goalkeepers.’
The video released for the announcement is genius!
