Saturday’s frustrating defeat to Fulham at Craven Cottage has got most Southampton fans asking the same question again – when will the Board act?
Given Fulham’s form Claudio Ranieri has had an immediate impact with them as they took a 3-2 victory over us and despite Stuart Armstrong scoring twice and showing a little more of what he’s capable of, the bottom line for a number of fans is simply that either manager Mark Hughes is out of ideas, or (and yes the players should also carry their fair share of the criticism) the players aren’t responding to him anymore as even Watford frustration didn’t really spark the reaction most felt it would.
With it seeming that Hughes will continue to be given time, it must be said the Telegraph reported recently that said clock may now be finally ticking, it just leaves fans at a loss as they guess the reasons as to why a change hasn’t yet been made.
Why is there nothing on my feed about Hughes and his departure? He can't still be our manager, surely. #saintsfc

Let’s hope there is a first season exit clause, they surely should have a review point in there if they are being careful with the cash…but then again…

HOW is Mark Hughes still in a job at Saints? Its like the owner and board genuinely enjoy destroying the club from within! #saintsfc #HughesOut pic.twitter.com/Q9Olg3SpOD

There had to be a shake up last summer and they truly bottled it. Now we're paying the price for a failure of leadership and responsibility. Why should I have any confidence that they can turn this around, despite whatever garbage Hughes spouts every press conference #saintsfc

Did you not learn from last season @SouthamptonFC keeping Hughes for too long will damage any hope we have of getting out of this mess! #SaintsFC pic.twitter.com/JFggmUPjLM

Tonight’s EFL Cup clash against Leicester City could be fun with a sense of irony.
