Southampton’s long wait for a second Premier League win in the 2018 campaign came to an end in Sunday’s clash at St Mary’s Stadium against Arsenal.

Welcoming Unai Emery’s side to our home soil, a brace of goals from Danny Ings and a solo effort from Charlie Austin gave us a much needed 3-2 victory and new manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first three points since coming into the club the other week.

With two goals to his name, Ings took statistic website Whoscored’s Man of the Match with a rating of 8.24.

The top five on the day were completed by Matt Targett (7.52), Nathan Redmond (7.37), Oriol Romeu (7.05) and fellow goalscorer Austin (7.02).

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg also received a plus-seven rating for his efforts on the day.

Given the opposition on the day, it was a three points few would’ve expected but that should do even more for confidence levels in the group as we look to finally get ourselves going.
