With the transfer window now shut in England, plenty of Southampton fans are still hoping for a departure or two with the European windows remaining open until September, and goalkeeper Fraser Forster has long been linked with a return to former club Celtic as the former England man looks to get himself back on track.
Although manager Ralph Hasenhuttl did give him a single runout in the defeat to West Ham last May, the 31-year-old is clearly out of favour at St Mary’s Stadium and he didn’t make the bench for the Premier League opener against Burnley.
With the previous speculation also suggesting Liverpool as a lazy destination, whilst I don’t believe the latest social media explosion from Celtic fans is actually attached to any fresh claims of an interest, with Scott Bain struggling as they lost in the Champions League tie against CFR Cluj on Tuesday night, I’m guessing it’s just frustrated fans airing their opinions on who they’d like to see come in.
It’s not the first time he’s been mentioned though, and he continues to be well liked at the club, so you wouldn’t be surprised to see some kind of loan deal done really.
An Artur Boruc or a Fraser Forster saves that penalty last night, Bains never a celtic number one.

Surely the question has to be asked about the availability of Fraser Forster. Our GK situation is dire. Bain has bottled it big time. Gordon not getting a look in for whatever reason.

Don’t think Gordon is the answer either Go get Fraser Forster back on Loan.
