Jake Thomson will stay at Bournemouth for another month after impressing Cherries boss Eddie Howe in his initial loan spell.

Thomson joined the Dorset side in January and has made six appearances, scoring once against Wycombe Wanderers.

His new loan spell will terminate on March 14th, however, the Saints have ensured that they can recall Jake if they need to.

Saints boss Mark Wotte told the official site, “Jake’s loan is temporary, so I can recall him at any time if I need to. That is different from the loan deals involving Stern John, Nathan Dyer and Rasiak who are on permanent loans with no recall option.”

“We are very happy for Jake to extend his loan spell with Bournemouth because it has been very good for his development. It is giving him first team experience and will help him develop a winning mentality.”

Cherries boss Eddie Howe added, “I’d like to thank Southampton for their co-operation in letting Jake stay for a further month. Jake is enjoying himself here and has been playing well and has quickly become an important part of the side, so it’s pleasing that he is staying on.”
