It would be an understatement to say that not many football fans are expecting Southampton to get anything tonight against Manchester City.

After the Saints 9-0 defeat to Leicester City, confidence along the south coast has never been lower, yet despite the record-breaking defeat for Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side on Friday night, fans on social media have decided to remain confident in the team decide the overwhelming odds against them at the Etihad.
Manchester City will be looking to retain the League Cup for the third year in a row, and it could potentially be another slaughter for Southampton if the reigning Premier League champions stick to their game plan and exploit the Saints, who will likely rotate.
And yet despite this prospect, the majority of supporters have stuck by the club.
Here’s what some Southampton fans had to say on Twitter ahead of their League Cup clash against Manchester City, with lots of supporters hoping for the squad to bounce back following Friday’s humiliation…
Time to restore our dignity, no one is expecting a win but we do expect a solid performance… Good luck!

Just put the effort in. That’s all we ask. We don’t expect much due to the opposition however as long as the players give it 100% then we can’t ask for more.
