Tranmere were one of the teams last season that knocked our hopes of making it into the play-offs with a home victory winning 2-1. Saints will be hoping to continue their good recent run with another victory.
Enoch Showunmi said on Tranmere OS, ‘We’ll have had people watch them to see what their strengths and weaknesses are. We’ll try to play our game first and if there’s any weaknesses we can play to we will.’
Jamaican international Ian Goodisonis out for several weeks. Fellow defender Marlon Broomes is also a doubt. Mark McChrystal is likely to deputise again.
The big striker will be a handful to our defence and will be one to watch throughout the game.
It is hoped that Dean Hammond will be able to return after injuryto his calf. No news yet on a possible return date for Chaplow and Lallana.
Jose will know that he is in for a busy and strenuous afternoon as he faces giant Showunmi. He will need to be at his best.
Tranmere has played 6 games at home to Saints. They have a good record winning 4, drawing 1 and losing 1. Many Saints still remember the 4-3 loss to Tranmere in the FA Cup and are hoping that we can gain some revenge both for that and for last seasons defeat.
Mr David Webb officiates.
Mr M Denton & Mr O Yates assist.
Mr A Scregg is 4th official
Having come a cropper last season when we were on a good run I am slightly worried by this game. However I still feel that we should be able to win.
