Tributes Rolling In From Saints Fans

Our official website has been updated regularly as the hordes of fans paid their respects to the late Markus Liebherr.

With a book of Condolence open for those close enough to Southampton to visit and sign. the queue has been clear to see all day.

For those of us unable to make it to the club there is a section on the site for us to send a tribute. This also has a regular line of visitors.

Fans from other clubs as well have taken the time to offer their sympathy and the overall reaction of the football comunity is one the utmost respect to a man who wore a smile on his face almost permanently.

I myself will never forget the greeting he received at his first home match. The whole ground stood to a man to greet our saviour.

Little did we know just how much our club would end up meaning to Markus. We were fortunate enough to learn this at Wembley when a beaming Markus was caught taking photographs.

There he was with his great big beaming smile, taking pictures of the players and stadium after the game. He appeared to be totally content with his choice of life.

After the game he was even seen having his photo taken with a few fans. Something that they will never forget.

Markus was a gentle man who shunned the limelight. Seldom was he photographed in public as often as when he became a Saint.

Markus Liebherr was a life saver and we thank his family for the time he was with our club.
