The game at St Mary’s Stadium as we hosted Sean Dyche’s boys had been set for Saturday, August 11th but owing to the Clarets involvement in this season’s Europa League competition, that game has now gone back to Sunday, August 12 and will now carry a 1.30pm kick-off time.
Initial television picks have been made by the broadcasters as well, and that sees our home tie against Brighton and Hove Albion suffer a switch.
The match was due to take place on Saturday, September 15 with a 3pm kick-off but having been selected by Sky Sports for the live television treatment that game goes back to the Monday Night Football slot. It will, therefore, take place at 8pm on Monday, September 17.
It’s fair to say fans aren’t best pleased with either game being given new dates, but it seems some hadn’t clocked Burnley would naturally move. It begs the question why set that game for a Saturday knowing it would move anyway, surely their fixture computer can show some kind of intelligence.
It's because @BurnleyOfficial are in the @EuropaLeague

Usually I’d moan about 3PM KO being ruined but this means I can actually make the 1st game! #saintsfc

Have to feel for #Burnley fans who will need to travel 1200 miles to see first two away games of the season! On a Thursday night and Sunday midday ???? couldn’t have made it up #EPL will though!

And this is why sadly I can no longer be a season ticket holder. The fixture list is worthless as published. Living 120 miles away I cannot tolerate random fixture changes. In the end we just become slothful armchair supporters. Sad.
