Wantaway Southampton Midfielder May Have Spanish Option For Exit

|

With Southampton midfielder Mario Lemina clearly having no future at St Mary’s Stadium given the antics we saw over the summer, the 25-year-old didn’t get his move up the Premier League as he had hoped and with deadline day passing, and no deal being agreed, most fans will simply expect him to move on and return to Europe now.

Spanish outlet AS (via InsideFutbol) have reported this week that La Liga side Celta Vigo are now sniffing around the player and they believe that there is some expectation that a deal will go through for him prior to the European window closing at the beginning of September.

There appears to be nothing concrete in the reports though other than a healthy dose of speculation and we all know how much speculation on the rumour mill never actually turns into any real interest, and rather than Lemina seeming to be a top target for them, he’s just one of a number they are looking at.

From Southampton’s point of view, he’s burnt his bridge with most, and we certainly don’t want him sticking around until January.
