With Southampton continuing their preparations for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium, manager Ralph Hasenhuttl has spoken of his faith in the squad to pull off another shock result as we look to pull ourselves back out of the relegation spots once more.

Having replaced Mark Hughes in the hot seat back in December, his first game in charge was the unexpected 3-2 victory over Arsenal at St Mary’s Stadium and speaking to Sky Sports ahead of this weekend’s action, Hasenhuttl said he’s ‘not afraid’ of facing off against top six opponents as he knows what we’re capable of doing, as long as we perform.

“We are focusing on the game against a difficult opponent, a very good opponent that we beat once already this year in a big game with a fantastic performance. I’m not afraid about all the big teams because we showed against Chelsea and Arsenal that we can also play against these teams in good matches and we will need to, that’s for sure. Every game is difficult but I think in the first game we showed that we can bring this surprising result.”

There’s every reason for optimism given our performance against them previously and if we tighten up at the back and stop conceding soft goals, there’s absolutely no reason why we can’t take six points off them this year but it’s down to the squad to do that.
