Southampton made the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday as Premier League action returned following the October international break and we took a much-needed point from the game and kept a clean sheet.
With manager Mark Hughes pulling a surprise in defence and bringing in Jack Stephens to partner Wesley Hoedt, it was an incredibly tight game in reality. The hosts edged possession on the day and although they had more efforts overall at our net, they managed to only get two on target and we mustered four at their keeper.
Welshman Hughes was adamant at the full-time whistle that we had deserved more from the game given the performance.

It’s understandable as to why he claimed that given the run of form that Bournemouth have been on in comparison to ourselves, but his words didn’t wash with plenty of fans on social media who took the time to give their reactions to his words above.
Totally right. Both excellent. Stephens showed why he should be playing every week. Was quick too when he needed to be

Agree with Hughes we certainly did deserve more. Strong performance lads

Love the generic ‘we deserved more than that’
What the fans deserve is a half decent manager that actually goes out to win games and actually has a clue what he’s doing.— Tommy (@we8pompey84) October 20, 2018
Get rid of him sooner rather than later!

If we had some creativity and a quality striker then we would have

Absolutely. If you don't score 1 point is the best you can hope for. Happy with a point today though

I don’t think Hughes will keep us up, I don’t think the board or owners will do anything to help us stay up either. I’m just telling you to pipe down and realise there’s no rivalry between our clubs other than the fact they’re located on a similar stretch of coastline

Get him sacked!

It’ll take more than a point to bring some fans back now sadly, but maybe it’s a start – now we have to prove it wasn’t the proverbial one off and that we can kick on further.
