We Must Be Tighter – Lambert

Rickie Lambert has said we can’t afford to be as open this weekend as we were when playing at the Etihad Stadium on the opening day of the season.

Speaking to saintsfc Lambert was clear that we had to be tighter and not play into their hands or their strengths again.

‘No, we don’t want it to be as open as that. You can’t give the players they have that much space and time. It was a great game to watch, but it was not the result we wanted. You’ve got to be tight when they’ve got it and open when we have it, but that’s the way we’ve been playing lately and it’s been working, so hopefully we can implement it again on Saturday.’

As is well known, should Rickie find the net it will be his 100th goal, but he has again said that he’s not making a big deal out of it – that’s for others to do – his focus on is on getting the right result for the club, irrespective of whether he scores of not.

He also talks in the interview about the spirit in the camp and that is being fuelled by the performances we are putting in on the pitch at the moment.
