Saturday afternoon’s Premier League fixture pitted Southampton against Huddersfield Town at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Going into the game Southampton were only two points ahead of our hosts as we sat in 17th place owing to the fantastic victory over Arsenal in the last game and the question on everyone’s lips was could we make it a first back to back run of wins in the 2018/19 campaign?

The answer was emphatically yes.

Nathan Redmond opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game and Danny Ings helped himself to a late first-half penalty to double our advantage. The hosts pulled one back just ahead of the hour mark, but highly rated youngster Michael Obafemi scored his maiden senior goal to make it 3-1 and restore our two-goal cushion.

That was how the game finished and whisper it quietly, but Saints are finding some form!

Speaking to Sky Sports in his post game press interviews, a delighted Ralph Hasenhuttl explained.

“It was necessary [to win two successive games], because we were in such a bad position. Now it looks a little friendlier. It was important to win. We knew this was going to be an opponent that would never give up and we stood up to the pressure. Now we have two matches at home which will be great for our fans.”
