Sheffield Wednesday have given up trying to sign Saints striker Kenwyne Jones, according to the Owls official website.

Jones, who had a highly successful loan spell with the South Yorkshire side in the 2004/05 season, will remain on the South Coast after scoring 18 goals in all competitions last season.

The Owls chief executive Kaven Walker said, ‘We’ve had a £2m offer for Kenwyne Jones rejected and there won’t be another one because Southampton have told us categorically that he’s not for sale.’
