Having recently announced confirmation that his international future would lie with the Republic of Ireland, Southampton Academy graduate Michael Obafemi made his debut for Martin O’Neill’s side in their game against Denmark.

The Republic secured a scoreless draw against the Danes and although it was only a cameo appearance, the 18-year-old got ten minutes at the end of the game and given their poor Nations League form as they are now relegated, they have also only won one of the eleven games I believe and they have failed to score in the last four, if Obafemi can ensure he makes a quick impact in future games, he should rack up the minutes and his experience quickly.
Whilst our youngster will take the headlines for his maiden bow, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg got 90 minutes in the game for the Danes, and elsewhere Mohamed Elyounoussi had a mixed night as Norway took victory over Cyrpus to take the League C, Group 3 winners tag, but he also saw two yellows and a red card minutes before the final whistle.
Wel dne son

Great to see a promising young lad capped. Hopefully a change in management soon will change the style & results of the team. Martin is a good man but not a football manager for 2018.
