Wembley 2010

Southampton and Carlisle fans will be heading to London excited at the prospect of seeing the new Wembley Stadium. Southampton fans will be at Wembley in their numbers with 44,000 tickets sold.

After this game we will then have the two FA Cup semi-finals. Aston Villa v Chelsea on April 10th and Portsmouth v Tottenham on April 11th.

Both of these matches have some significance. Aston Villa have already been to Wembley this season having lost to Manchester United in the Carling Cup final. Chelsea have been knocked out of the Champions League and have faltered slightly in the hunt for the Premier League title.

Portsmouth as winners over Southampton are flying the flag for the South Coast. They are heading remorsefully towards relegation and are in administration. They also have old manager, Harry Redknapp, in opposition. Harry Redknapp is not popular with Pompey fans and he has returned to take some of his old players to Spurs.

To make matters even more interesting. Chelsea are in the first semi-final and Pompey fans would love the chance to gain some revenge for the game played at Fratton Park on Wednesday.

So at the moment we have three games ahead of us and all are of significance to the fans involved. Southampton and Carlisle have both been close to disappearing. Both sets of fans will be there to enjoy themselves. Winning will be a bonus.

Aston Villa and Chelsea fans will both be there desperate to see their clubs win to take them to the final. Villa hoping to forget Manchester United and Chelsea hoping not to lose everything that they have gone for.

Pompey and Spurs fans will be slightly different. Spurs fans will expect to win whilst Pompey fans will be hoping to put one across HR and his team. Pompey fans might also be there prepared to sing there songs even if the game is going against them. Something that they do well.

I myself am hoping for some good games that the neutral fan can enjoy. So for all who are making the trip to Wembley, have a good day and enjoy your game. May the best team win with no need for an inquest afterwards.
