Following Southampton and Japan centre-half Maya Yoshida’s interview earlier this week where he implied that he would like to end his playing career at the club if the option arose and he didn’t get tempted to experience a different league before he hung up his boots, the expectation was that fans would be incredibly impressed with his words.
Having discussed the fact that he had interest from Saudi Arabia during the summer transfer window in the piece 30-year-old Yoshida also admitted that if a Premier League club came in for him and was just willing to pay more for his services, his first choice would be to stay at St Mary’s and it was an incredibly refreshing interview from the man, showing just how much he’s become settled with us following his arrival from VVV-Venlo for a snip £3million back in the summer of 2012.
With so many players leaving in recent years, both to chase the arguable opportunity for greater silverware and undoubtedly a greater pay packet, Yoshida simply went up in the estimations of fans as they took to social media to react to his words.
Absolute legend, love Maya
