Who Will Be League One’s Top South Coast Side?

To do this fairly we have to do it alphabetically. That means our friends along the coast headin westward are first to be disected.

Bournemouth have been shouting out loud and clear that they are going to be the team to end up on top. Even their chairman Eddie Mitchell has been quoted as saying that the Cherries can end up top south coast club.

Bournemouth had a bloody good season last time round but this season will be a damned sight harder. They have picked some new players but none stand out as will be stars so we will have to wait and see.

Brighton like us started slowly last season but like us slowly fought their way out of trouble, ending the season not a long way behind us.

They have also picked up a few players and have a manager that can do them good. They will certainly fancy their chances of doing better this time round. They will definitely be looking for wins against the Cherries.

Exeter struggled last year after winning promotion from League Two. They have a yound manager who tries to get his team playing football as the fan likes it to be played.

The team has been strengthened but they will see Bournemouth as a game that they can win. The experience from last year should help but I can still see them as one of the clubs that will be fighting against the drop.

Plymouth were relegated last season and one would expect them to be a force in this league with new players and a new manager.

Peter Reid has gone on record as saying that it is his job to get the club back to the CCC. Whether he can do that this season is another story but he will bring in players that he feels will help the cause. They will fancy their chances against the Cherries.

Finally there is the Saints. We narrowly failed to make it to the play-offs. With the start that we had we more or less gave all teams a twenty point start.

The team was threadbare when AP took over and it took a few games to get us started. The fact that we came so close has to be a big plus for the season we had.

This season we have hopefully filled our weakest position by signing two accomplished right backs. We may have found another central midfielder and have signed a good left back who shapes as though he can do a good job in left midfield as well.

Alan Pardew says he is still in the market for a couple more to add to the strength of our team/squad and I believe we will be tight at or near the top of the League this season.

So for any of us to end up top dog down here won’t be easy as all will be keyed up for the fight. Only time will tell, but if pushed I would say that at the end of the season, the five clubs will finsh with Saints best, Plymouth next, then Brighton, then Bournemouth and finally Exeter.

Not forgetting that this is my own personal feeling, and is only for the five clubs and not for the final League One positions.
