Some of our fans have castigated him for his stance in the current scheme of things. Right or wrong he is entitled to his own thoughts on our current situation.

1976 was a long time ago, and the majority of our fans probably weren’t there on our great day when we surprised Manchester United.

Last week Big Lawrie spoke of the nameless people who were slandering him on the internet.

Their response was to simply increase the amount of vitriol aimed in his direction.

I am appalled when I see how one of our legends is treated. With a lesser man at the helm we might never have succeeded as much as we did in reaching the top division in the land.

We might also still be in the lower reaches having never been in a position to leave our old ground the Dell.

Many people say that they are only interested in the now and the future. Fine, but without our past history we might not have a future to look forward to.

Are these faceless internet warriors saying that the likes of, Wayman, Reeves, R Davies, O’Brien, Channon, Paine, and Le Tiss don’t matter? Are of no Interest?

Every club has a history, Some much better than ours and some worse or at least of less noteworthy achievement.

I feel lucky to have seen all except the first of the above names that I have mentioned. For me they are a very important part of our club’s heritage.

Big Lawrie and MLT may be at odds with the current regime at St Mary’s but they may also just be victims of the media.

How many of us actually know for certain that any of these stories about a rift actually are the truth.

I hope to see our legends at St Mary’s in the near future. I am not asking for there to be a bloody great love in, but it would be nice to see the parties concerned show that our club is the first thing in their consideration.

Leave our legends alone and remember them for what they have done. All people are allowed the odd mistake and all people should simply rejoice in those moments of magic that we received through them.

For me Lawrie is the best manager we have had in my time. Matt Le Tiss the greatest player. That is how I want to remember them.
