Southampton’s Director of Football Sir Clive Woodward has said that he plans to remain at Saints despite Rupert Lowe’s resignation. Woodward believes that he is still wanted by the new board led by property tycoon Michael Wilde.

Woodward’s title at St Mary’s has changed in recent days after a reshuffle of roles. Woodward is now Technical Director, he is no longer Director of Football. Meanwhile, George Burley’s title is now manager as opposed to Head Coach.

Woodward insists that he is here for the long haul despite the high profile changes at the club. He told the Daily Echo:-

‘Business is business, what has happened has gone on above me and is not for me to comment on, but I am not leaving Southampton FC.’

There had been rumours that Woodward had been approached by England Rugby to return in some capacity but it now seems that this is not the case.
