Southampton boss Mark Wotte is devastated following the 10 point deduction which sends the Saints down to League 1.

Speaking to the official website the Dutchman declared his disappointment when hearing the bad news:

‘I was devastated when I was told about the decision,’ Wotte said. ‘But now we need to try and take the positives from it and use this decision to find the motivation to start the new season today.’

Wotte is now seeing tomorrow’s game with Burnley the start of their season, in a bid to build confidence for a re-bound to the Championship.

‘I have found another source of inspiration and our new goal is now to give Southampton a fair chance to of coming straight back up and the best way to do that is to win our last two games.

‘I’m not into negative thinking, and we’ve beaten other teams who have been chasing the play-offs, so there’s no reason we can’t do it again if we play at our best.’

Tomorrow’s game with Burnley won’t affect the league table, but the Dutchman is focused and feels that his side can get the three points to lighten the dark situation at St. Mary’s.

‘It’s all about results now and even if it’s an ugly win then we will be very happy on Saturday. I think everyone knows that we cannot have two games in a row like the one against Sheffield Wednesday, so I know that the boys will perform well and do everything to win the game.’
