Saints’ Head Coach Mark Wotte has said he ‘couldn’t believe’ how his side came away from Ashton Gate without anything to show for their efforts.

Although Saints put in a spirited performance, hitting the post twice and having an effort cleared off the line, they just couldn’t find the back of the net.

Wotte’s side are right up against it as they bid to stave off relegation to League One, but he could at least take some consolation from the performance.

Speaking to The Daily Echo, Wotte said, “I can’t believe that we lost this game. I don’t think we should have lost it.

“Second half I was very pleased with the performance. We created at least five or six opportunities to score one goal.

“In the first half we hit the post twice and second half we went all the way for a goal, had our chances but didn`t score which was not very good.

“The second goal was not important. It was the last second of the match and we took the risk to score a goal but I think after the second half I can’t believe we lost this match. A draw at least would have been deserved.”
