Lee Barnard has said he is looking to put a difficult campaign behind him but his focus is now on finishing strongly.

Speaking to saintsfc the striker said his spell on the sidelines was very frustrating, but after working his way back into the bosses plans recently he’s just glad to be back out on the pitch and playing again.

‘It’s been a long time so it’s nice to be back involved and nice to be feeling fit and injury free again. There’s been a few times when I’ve come back too early, but this time I feel good. It’s just nice to get back on the pitch and play.’

Barnard adds that one positive of his spell out of the team was seeing them perform so well, but that in itself brings annoyance because he wasn’t out there enjoying it with them.

‘It’s been difficult, it’s been good to see the boys doing well, but you want to be a part of that and it’s hard to just watch. But I feel fine now and I’m just looking forward to the end of the season – hopefully I’ll get some more game time.’
