Southampton gaffer George Burley tried to stay positive after Saints threw away a 2 goal lead to promotion rivals Cardiff City.

Many Saints fans see this season as Southampton’s best chance of winning promotion and have already started putting pressure on manager George Burley.

But Burley remains positive telling the Echo: ‘It’s still all to play for.

‘Friday is a key game to get the three points and if we win that one we’re in with a shout of the top six.

‘It would have been great to get the three points but we got one point, so on Friday we’ve got to look for the three.

‘We need a win to keep us right in there and if it’s mathematically possible we’ll keep fighting for that top six.

‘We will keep fighting right to the end of the season.

‘The players aren’t giving up and hopefully the fans won’t.’
