Tonight we play our final home game of the year and it would be an exceptional statistic if we were able to avoid defeat.

The Saints have taken a quite remarkable 65 points from a possible 69 on offer – a spectacular home average of 2.83 points per game.

Many people in the game put our success down to the prolific scoring record that we have, but that does our defence a massive disservice.

The Saints scoring statistics show an impressive 52 goals scored in the 23 games, an average of a whopping 2.26 goals per game.

Yes that is great but the defence has only allowed the opposition to score 12 goals which is a shade above 1 goal every 2 games.

To me this shows that we have been strong all round. Stay unbeaten and we will have yet another statistic to be pleased with.

So come on you reds let’s open up a six point gap for the New Year.
