‘The frustrating thing about playing four games in eight days is not being able to do any of the basics on the training field’

Cardiff City Team News:

Defender Rhys Weston faces a late fitness test after picking up an injury on Boxing Day.

Player to watch: Jason Koumas

Saints Team News:

Saints injury problems are much worse than the Bluebirds, especially in central defence. Michael Svensson and Claus Lundekvam are both still sidelined and Darren Powell is also a major doubt after getting a hamstring injury on Boxing Day.

Rory Delap has a sore ankle but is likely to be fit, while Antti Niemi should shake off his virus.

Nathan Dyer is also touch and go for the game after picking up a dead leg against Sheff Utd.

Player to watch: Theo Walcott

George Burley is keen not to ‘burn out’ the young star, but he’s likely to start against Cardiff if Nathan Dyer doesn’t recover from his dead leg.

Match Facts & Stats

Saints and Cardiff haven’t met in the league since March 1978, when we met in the equivalent of this division. Cardiff won the game 1-0.

Match Prediction:

I’m going for a very optimistic 1-2

After an improved performance against Sheff Utd im hopeful of a good result – Though it’ll be a very hard place to go and Dave Jones will be very eager to beat us.
