Saints keeper Kelvin Davis is back in contention for tonight’s game against Sunderland.

Davis has been forced to sit out games through suspension and has watched Southampton’s fortunes turn around with Bartosz Bialkowski keeping two clean sheets.

He told the official site: ‘Not getting on the bus for the last two away games is punishment enough for any player but I am now looking forward to being back in the squad and then take it from there.’

Burley went on to add: ‘There has never been any doubt about Bart’s potential but he had a very serious knee injury and people do not realise how long it takes to get over that.

But he showed at Wolves what a top class keeper he is and did well at Luton. He is always going to be a top player for this club in the future.

‘Kelvin was having his best spell of the season when he got suspended, harshly in my view. He has been excellent in the past couple of months.

I don’t have a set Number One in any position and it will be a difficult decision.’
