Our captain has done reasonably this season in the Championship but for several fans his position in the team has come under ever increasing threat.

Richard Chaplow has been sorely missed since getting injured and Morgan Schneiderlin is still improving with experience.

With Saints doing well and leading the way at the moment we are left to ponder on whose positions are going to be those strengthened next month.

Nigel Adkins has already said that he will be looking to strengthen in the transfer window. Knowing our club, it will only be once deals are completed that we will learn who comes and goes.

Dean Hammond himself says how the club has changed since his arrival. Major restructuring from top to bottom has been seen.

Talking about Crystal Palace, he says that they are a good solid, hard working team, with a couple of flair players. Dean is looking forward to the game and is sure that though it is likely to be tough, we should be ok if we play to our maximum.

Obviously he would like to see his 100th game resulting in a victory. I know that us Saints fans will be hoping for another home win and with a full house likely, we should be able to help push the team on to victory.

If Dean plays against Palace, we know that he will have to work extremely hard as the opposition has a strong looking midfield. The game will likely be similar to that at Fratton Park with little time to dwell.

He has always been a trier and has a good work ethic which should help us as pitches deteriorate around the country. So in anticipation of him reaching his goal soon, I wish him good luck on the day, and congratulations.
