Nathan Dyer has left Southampton to join Sheffield United on a three-month loan deal, although Jordan Robertson is coming the other way.

Dyer, who only signed a new three-year contract in the summer, has struggled to establish himself under Jan Poortvliet but Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell is excited with his capture: ‘Nathan has got the ability to play wide left, he’s blessed with exceptional pace, and as a young kid, when he first came on to the scene, he was spoken of in the same terms as Theo Walcott,’ Blackwell told the official Sheffield United website. ‘Our fans will love him, he will add an extra dimension and spark to our play. Because he will not arrive until Friday afternoon, he will more than likely start on the bench.’

Robertson, a young striker who has previously had loan spells with Oldham and Northampton, joins Southampton for the same amount of time.
