SAINTS boss George Burley felt that the first goal today was vital for Southampton to go on to win the match.
Speaking to the official site Burley said: ‘When you come to grounds like this where conditions are tricky then the first goal is vital – and thankfully we got it.
‘We started brightly and had a few chances but the goal would not come and then they came back into it. But once we went in front I always felt we would go on and win.
‘It was David against Goliath but thankfully we made sure there was no upset here. Grzegorz is a natural goalscorer and you need that in your side. He has been consistent all season and has a great record.
