Fonte Left With Mixed Emotions

Jose Fonte has admitted he was left with mixed emotions following the Sunderland game, disappointed with the result, but delighted to get his goal.

Speaking to saintsfc following the game, the defender explained.

‘It was a great moment and I’m happy for myself, the fans and the team, but we’re disappointed not to get three points at home. When you go a goal down after two minutes, you have to run after the result and it was a very hard game, but we weren’t at our best – but I believed we deserved more than just a draw.’

Fonte goes on to talk about the better chances that we had throughout the game and he feels that we created more opportunities than Sunderland, but for one reason or another we simply couldn’t find a finish.
