Saints’ Trinidad and Tobago front man Kenwyne Jones has this morning handed in a transfer request.

The striker, who fired 18 goals last season, has asked to leave following interest from Premier League new boys Derby County and Sunderland.

This has come as a major blow to manager George Burley, who believed the powerful hit man would stay at St.Mary’s. He told the club’s official website, ‘I am very disappointed.’
