Brighton looked as they they would win coming from behind to lead in the 73rd minute. As time ran out Bristol Rovers threw everything at Brighton and deep into extra time they were rewarded when an own goal handed them a point.
After the game Gus Poyet the Brighton manager said, ‘We have not been ourselves for the last thre or four games. We need to get back to the way we play and make sure we are in control of the game.’
The two points dropped mean that Charlton are now closing in behind them.

Charlton had to fight hard for their win over Yeovil. Twice they took the lead with Yeovil coming back to equalise. Charlton were down to 10 men when they won a penalty with the offender being sent off, to score with 5 minutes remaining. The win leaves them a mere four points behind Brighton.

In another hard fought game Colchester came from a goal down to take the lead before Hartlepool equalised with two minutes to go.
The game seemed to be heading for a draw but a hotly disputed penalty for Colchester was duly put away in extra time to gain the win.

Bournemouth played well for most of this game until Leyton substitute Tehoue got in on the act with two late goals. Bournemouth were rocked with two of their leading players getting injured before losing control. Leyton got their equaliser well into injury time for yet another game to slip away from the Cherries late in a game.

A Neil Mellor header hat-trick helped Sheffield Wednesday see off MK Dons at Milton Keynes. Wednesday completely over ran the Dons after conceding the first goal.
Weds boss Irvine said after the game, ‘ We had a setback and full marks to the players, they didn’t get their heads down at that point. The result was a reward for everything they’ve done. Not just for today but for recent weeks.’

Southampton also scored four with a demolition job on Peterborough with some great attacking forward play. If Posh keeper Lewis hadn’t been in such good form the score could have been doubled such were the saves he made. Six home wins on the trot and now Saints have Brighton the leaders at home on Tuesday as they try to make it seven. Goal of the day has to be the third goal which in reality ensured the points were safe with Chaplow blasting the ball home after a glorious sweeping move from the Saints midfield.

Oldham kept the pressure on those above them with a hard fought 1-0 win at Dagenham and Redbridge. Loanie White could have scored in the first half but made amends with the vital winner early in the second half.
Paul Dickov the Oldham manager said after the game, ‘I’m absolutely delighted. We knew what we were expecting they’re a big physical team and like to get the ball forward as quickly as possible.’

Huddersfield lost some ground when they lost to Exeter at home 0-1. Huddersfield came close to scoring with Rhodes and Arfield both hitting the woodwork but Exeter were able to hold on for the points.
Exeter manager Paul Tisdale said, ‘It was a big win for us and we certainly had to work hard for it in what was a long, long game.’

Brentford climbed further away from the drop zone with a hard fought win over Plymouth who are still struggling to win at home. Brentford opened the scoring but were pulled back before half-time. The winner came when a shot was deflected into the goal and plymouth were unable to come back a second time.
Peter Read the Plymouth manager said, ‘I can’t fault the players for effort, they gave us everything.’

Tranmere beat Notts County with a goal from Showunmi to keep new boss Paul Ince still waiting for his County team to give him a win. County started off brightly and dominated for long spells but simply couldn’t score.

Rochdale drew a highly entertaining game with Swindon. Swindon scored first before Dale scored twice to lead 2-1. Swindon then took their turn to score twice before Rochdale equalised with five minutes to go.

Walsall remain bottom after beating high flying Carlisle but have closed the gap to sit a mere point behind Yeovil. Matt Richards scored twice to come from behind to win 2-1. Carlisle drop out of the top six with this result
