George Burley has said that he is confident Pele will have a better season next season, more than likely at center back.

He is expected to play at the back for saints this weekend against Eastleigh.

Captain Claus is injured and Baird is expected to leave for Sunderland before the friendly to join up with Roy Keanes Premiership team.

‘The way strikers back into center halves, Pele wasn’t quite used to that type of player so I’m sure that was a learning experience.’ He then went on to say other positive things about the Pele.

‘He’s strong, quick, comfortable on the ball, has a smashing attitude and he’ll get better.’

‘He’s bedded down in his first season and he has the potential to improve.’

Pele had some difficult moments in his first season, including giving away a terrible penalty in the first leg in the play-offs.

He has struggled but has plenty of potential, with no other option it looks like Pele is the gaffers only option.

The club has also confirmed that Vignal has joined on trail and will hopefully feature against Eastleigh, alongside Pele in defence.

The weather will be nice for the game at the Silverlake Stadium for the friendly this weekend
