Southampton and all of the other seventy-one Football League clubs are joining forces this week to raise awareness and vital funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Marie Curie Cancer Care is a charitable organisation in the UK, established in 1948, which provides free nursing care to the terminally ill. The nurses are also there for family and carers of these people, providing practical and emotional support throughout.

From 7th – 14th March the Football League will show it’s support for this charity and every League Manager will wear the iconic Marie Curie Cancer Care daffodil pin for their home games and media interviews.

Clubs will be holding match day collections as well as a host of other fundraising activities.

Speaking to the Football League’s Official Site, Greg Clark, the Chairman of the Football League said, ‘This week of action is one of the major focuses of our partnership with Marie Curie this season and we look forward to collectively raising a large amount of money for this fantastic charity.

The National reach of Marie Curie Football Week is going to give fans, players and managers at all clubs the chance to support the crucial work carried out by Marie Curie Nurses in local communities.’
