Adam Lallana is our biggest concern as he has often been the catalyst from which the team plays best. He was missed quite badly against Notts County on Saturday.

With Dean Hammond also out and now Richard Chaplow the midfield is starting to look a tad threadbare.

Nigel has told the OS that he will not push the players for a quick return. Talking about Dean and Adam he said that both were good players and that he expects them to return sooner rather than later.

That is not the same as saying that they will rush them back because we need them. In fact Nigel has said that with the excellent medical staff at the club the players will be monitored individually to decide when they are ready.

I happen to agree with him when he says that it is much better to miss an extra game than to return to early and miss half a dozen.

Hopefully all three of our midfielders will be back soon and we will have no cause to miss their input on matchdays.

  • Lallana has possibly tried too hard after signing his new contract. Hopefully he won’t be out for long as we will miss him a lot.

  • Did look as though he really wanted to sore I must admit but he settled down after a frantic few minutes. Wish Rickie could start firing a few more bullets so we don’t look so desperate for everybody else to score.

  • I am glad Nigel won’t rush the injured players back but we will miss Adam badly. Time for the rest of the squad to show that we can cope without him.

  • I am concerned by the stats that we have when Adam Lallana isn’t playing but agree that no matter how desperate we become we have to allow the injured to fully recover before playing them. We need the rest to stand up and be counted.
