Tadanari Lee has decided to leave FC Tokyo stating he felt he didn’t play often enough for him to agree to a permanent move.

Speaking to the Japan Times Lee talked about his frustration at only starting 4 games out of 13 during his loan spell at the club.

‘I felt like I was only playing in fits and starts and thought a different challenge would be etter for me. Maybe it was a case of me not being good enough? I spoke to the coach and we tried to work something out.’

Despite a permanent deal being on the table, Lee rejected that and will now return to Southampton when his loan spell ends at the end of this month.
