Official Bid?

The Southampton Daily Echo is this morning reporting that Hull has tabled an Official Bid for Saints versatile midfielder David Prutton.

Here on Vital Saints we have covered this story from its outset and there has been some confusion surrounding this transfer rumour with conflicting reports being released from different sectors.

Prutton joint saints for 2.5 Million Pounds in January 2003 but his contract is up in the summer and saints may want to get back as much cash as possible rather then letting the player go on a free transfer.

Another reason why Prutton may be keen to see this deal go threw is that Hull is his hometown club

The reported bid is in the region £150k-£200k with Hull City boss Phil Brown saying ‘There is a bid on the table, we are waiting to hear if that bid has been accepted and then gain permission to speak to David’.

It is now down to Southampton to decide between letting the player go now or trying to agree a new contract with the 25 year old.
