Saints striker Graziano Pelle continued his goal scoring form last night with a late goal against Norway, in the last match of the qualifying group stages of next summer’s European Championships.

Having secured his first full international cap last October, following an impressive start to his career at the Saints, Pelle has gone on to earn eight more and scored his fourth goal for his country last night.

The match itself saw Italy fall behind midway through the first half before equalising in the 74th minute. It was eight minutes later when a cross from Florenzi found Pelle lingering at the far post, who volleyed into the ground and looped it past the Norwegian shot stopper.

In the process of breaking the Norway hearts and leaving them in a play-off position in order to reach the main stages, Pelle’s winning goal saw Italy top the group having already secured a place in next summer’s competition in France.

Pelle has scored five Premier League goals so far this campaign, including the third of three in Saints away win during their last fixture at Stamford Bridge.
