Manager Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that we will have a few players missing when we host Villa on Wednesday, but despite that we will be looking to bring an end to our run of back to back defeats in the league.

Goalkeeper Artur Boruc will obviously be missing for about six weeks I believe having had it confirmed that he fractured his hand in our game against Chelsea, and midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin will also be missing on Wednesday after suffering a groin problem in the same game.

They join Kelvin Davis who has a back issue, Gaston Ramirez who is missing with illness, Danny Fox who has a hamstring problem and Guly do Prado who has a knee injury.

Speaking to saintsfc ahead of the game, Poch remained confident that we could deal with that and still get back to winning ways as he has every belief that the players will bounce back from our recent disappointments.

‘We’re always being tested in the Premier League, and the test starts tomorrow with a game against Aston Villa. We want to recuperate these players as soon as possible and get them ready to play, but it’s clear that we have full trust and confidence in all of our players. We trust the entire squad. Every game is important, and to win tomorrow is vital for us after two consecutive defeats.’

Poch says he’ll be expecting a different test from Villa this season as they are in better form than they were last season, so he’s expecting a tough and physical test from them but he believes we will be able to cope with that, and although they seem better away from home at the moment, he knows we are strong on our own soil so rather than worrying about them overly, we’ll be focusing on how we can make life difficult for them.
